The Game UN:Me: A Cerebral Thriller That Blends Survival Horror with Among Us Gameplay

The latest Day of the Devs online presentation revealed several intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure seems to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us.

"It's a unique experience where a young woman containing multiple human souls inside her must escape from a labyrinth of the psyche," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness

In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Inside her reside four distinct personas, each with unique fears and drives. These entities can seize control spontaneously, unleashing their innermost terrors upon her without warning.

Based on showcased gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a eerie medical facility, though additional clips depict the main character navigating a abandoned chapel.

An Environment of Personal Dread

"What are you fearful of? What causes you uneasy?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Things that seem trivial to others can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are specific to each person."

The central mechanic revolves around managing the persona that surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will switch involuntarily during gameplay. While exploring, each soul's anxieties become amplified and attack the protagonist one after another. When the soul changes, so does the specific fear the player encounters.

Eerie Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision

At first glance, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the lobby have enormous flowers where their necks should be. Floral motifs are a recurring theme, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me presents a unique twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities inhabiting the heroine is the "real" one. "All four souls claims that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a developer. "During the game, you need to figure out who is authentic."

Once players believes a soul is fake, they must eliminate it. However, because every entity can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already destroyed the true [soul] with your own hands," a voice states. "The last one remaining could be a fraud. Either way, your choices are final."

UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced launch window, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
