The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG set within the series' apocalyptic setting. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Launch products will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents enter the story.

Development on the game has been underway for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to access a wider market, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs d10s predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Players use abilities to assemble a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health Mechanic

The way health is managed introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They can still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
